My pretty mommy and I went to the World of Sound concert at the newly remodeled Bass Concert Hall Friday night. It was a lovely blend of symphony, a jazz trio, and a couple of classical vocalists (and i got a fab new pair of shoes for the event!)
The finale was a big shocker! Ghostland Observatory played, a duo from South Austin that combine their electronica/punk/rock music with a laser light show. The UT marching band even appeared on stage at one point. There was fog, and strobe lights, and quite a few dancing fans with purple dreadlocked hair. Not really my style, but hey, good to get out of my comfort zone every once in awhile.
We ended the evening with a late dinner at Kerby Lane Cafe on 183. They just moved to a new building across the highway; food is still awesome, but they lost a lot of their charm and local Austin feel by being in a strip center.
