We made the trip back down to the Mandola Winery in Driftwood for lunch with the family on Sunday.

I Was Running

I ran the Texas Round Up 5K Saturday morning, in 33 mins 40 secs. Not bad considering i was at the BBQ Cookoff the night before! Ironically, the race is sponsored by Michelob Ultra, so I had my first beer of the day at 8:45 am.

Ride 'Em Cowgirl

This weekend was the Liberty Hill BBQ Cookoff. Free beer and free BBQ! I even mustered up the courage to ride the mechanical bull this year.

Goodbye, Floor

Thursday night something burst inside the fridge and water came pouring out, flooding most of the house. 5 hours later, the water remediation crew had the water sopped up and fans set out; the next day they ripped up our beautiful new floors. You can see the water coming up through the seams in the wood.

A Great Holiday

If you're a state employee, and get San Jacinto Day off. San Jacinto Day is the celebration of the Battle of San Jacinto on April 21, 1836. It was the final battle of the Texas Revolution where Texas won its independence. What better way to celebrate than a day at the lake!

It's Looking Good

Not quite finished with our remodeling, but getting close! Here are the new wood floors, and tile should be done this week.

Tuscan Wine Country...in Central Texas

Saturday, some friends and I had an Italian lunch at Trattoria Lisina in Driftwood (just past Salt Lick), and a wine tasting next door at the Mandola Winery. Beautiful setting, good company, good food and Texas wine--doesn't get any better than that.

Guess I'll Always Be a Bargain Shopper

2 weeks ago I won a $50 gc to Neiman Marcus. Never been there; always figured it would be a bit out of my price range, but i was excited nonetheless. I've heard about their great "Last Call" values so i checked it out online, thinking i might find a cute top or dress for myself. Well, everything even remotely close to the $50 price range consisted of things like camisoles, plain white tees, and leggings. Boring. The stuff i wanted (on sale) was starting out closer to $150, $200...

Sooooo, i got a great serving bowl instead. Hey, it matches my kitchen, and i got free shipping. Can't beat it. Next time i want a cute dress i'll stick to Target.
